Review for The Dead Zone

by Soul.

Stephen King’s The Dead Zone in my opinion, is one of the best novels he ever written. Maybe it’s because the novel is slightly more surreal compared to the rest of his work. Anyway, as The Dead Zone has been reviewed countless times already, in my review, I’d like to focus on a couple of very specific aspects of the novel. Clearly, the novel eventually grows into a life and death situation as presumably, Stillson’s politics as the President would bring the world to an end. First of all, what kind of politics can bring an apocalypse? Do we have real-life examples in today’s politics? King doesn’t elaborate too much on Stillson’s political views and plans too much only mentioning prop. 151 called “the Casino initiative”, bizarre proposals of clearing pollution by sending it to space, etc. But at first it seems that he has nothing that would indicate that he would be fatal as the President. Which makes it rather hard to understand Stillson beyond the fact that he was abused as a child and has a severe emotional trauma. But you know what comes to mind when I picture Stillson in real life? Well, Stillson reminds me of the current presidential candidate Donald Trump. Both have outrageous policies, both have ties with the casino industry and if anyone can worsen a nuclear conflict along with Stillson, it’s Trump. Although, while Stillson’s support for casino was not public, Trump had business plans on running online casinos for years. Reportedly, in 2012 he planned to partner with 888 Holdings to offer online casino services in U.S. 888 Holdings now offer games from Microgaming network (other operators include Unibet (poker, casino, bingo, etc.), Monte-Carlo Casino bonus and games, Go Wild Casino bonus and games, Bet365 bonus, casino games, poker and sports betting) while Trump’s Taj Mahal online casino site does not currently offer services. As far as outrageous policies, it’s no secret that Trump offered any Muslims entering U.S., building a wall with Mexico, etc. While the novel doesn’t show anything that Stillson would be racist, he has aggressive policies of his own that you could say is an indication of what it would be like having him as the President. Therefore, if you can believe Stillson can bring the apocalypse, you probably can that Trump could as well.

Review for The Shining

by leonardo.

This review has been rated 10 (by 2 users).
I read this book like a year ago. The begining was great and King actually lets you know the chracter's background and makes a really good psychological profile of each of them.
The book gets boring when they start living in the Hotel, but then it gets better and better and better.
It is very creepy and I was very anxious to see what would happen with jack, wendy and dani. He handles the psychological state of the characters in an excellent way.
I give it a 8.5

Review for The Stand

by leonardo.

This review has been rated 10 (by 1 users).
I can't say I'm a hughe fan of Sthephen King, because I've only read two of his books (the stand and the shining) and I have two more books by him (IT and a bag of bones) that I'm gonna read after I finish the book I'm reading right now.
I'm 15 years old and I love to read. A year ago I was looking for a great book and I bought The Shining, but I also wanted to buy The Stand. I've got to say that I wasn't pretty sure about buying it because it was pretty long and I thought it would get boring at some point. Well, this christmas my grandmother bought it to me as a gift and I've got to say I loved it.
The begining is the best part of the book, when people is dying because of the disease, but I've got to say, the second part (the battle beetween good and evil) is awesome. The characters are very realistic and they are not robots who are just thinking about fighting, no, they have feelings and there are many love stories in the book. I fell in love with the characters right the way (specially with Frannie) and I was sad to finish the book. I think the length of the book is a good thing, cause you are really into the story and you can't get enough of those loveable characters... I give it a 9.

I have read all of Mr. Kings books, but this one has been the only one that has made me cry. Mr. Kings writing ability is amazing. This whole story is wonderful. I have read it several times, and each time I read it I find out new things and find new connections with other works of his.

Review for Cell

by sara andrada.

This book was captivating, I read it in two days. Stephen King has once again managed to grab something we feel is small such as cell phones and put a fear there that makes us question calling our mom.I recommend this book to everyone. It was fast paced and not like your ordinary zombie type characters.I will be waiting for the movie to be released.
